Quick Intro
Kart racing is a variant of open-wheel motorsport with small, open, four-wheeled vehicles called gokarts (or karts or gearbox/shifter karts – depending on the design). Gokarts are are usually raced on scaled-down circuits – indoors or outdoors. Gokarts vary widely in speed and some (known as Superkarts) can reach speeds exceeding 260 kilometres per hour, while recreational gokarts intended for the general public may be limited to speeds of no more than 50 kilometres per hour. Competitive karting is commonly perceived as the stepping stone to the higher ranks of motorsports.
